30 years ago Merle Crocket began a quest to develop wrestlers though out Southwest Washington. His commitment to all athletes from any school set the stage for many athletes in our area to gain a high level of success in high school wrestling in their respective schools. Many of these athletes have won state titles or obtained All American status. Additionally, many of wrestlers have gone on to have high levels of success in both the collegiate and international arenas. As the club grew, so did Merle’s vision. He built a training facility at his house. Known simply as “The Compound” many national and internationally know wrestlers have contributed to the club and athletes success.

Goal.

As SWWWC grows, it becomes important that we strive to keep the traditions and ideology of it past. “The Crocket Way” will always be a part of our wrestling and as new coaches and directors are trained these tenants will continue to be a part of how the club is coached and operates.

Vision

The vision of SWWWC follows the ideas and commitments of Merle Crocket. All wrestlers are welcome to SWWWC. We train simply to give a wrestler the opportunity to get better based on their level of commitment. Practice sessions are meant to challenge a wrestler. Wrestling technique is contemporary and tested so that the wrestlers can be successful at the highest levels. Currently the club has representation from every school district in Clark County and many outside. Practices are four days a week, giving all wrestlers the opportunity to practice according to their commitment level and wrestling maturity.
